Celebrities and Dog Lovers Come out to Support Animal Fair's Third Annual Toys for Dogs

New York, NY (December 16, 2008) -- Animal Fair Magazine's 3rd Annual Toys for Dogs Party and PSA shoot at Vintage Irving on Saturday, December 13th raised money for The Humane Society of New York to help animals in need. Animal lovers in New York City came out to donate toys to homeless dogs and have their pooches take pictures with Santa. Additionally, celebrity dog lovers joined to support Toys for Dogs and shoot their portion of Animal Fair's upcoming PSA, "We are Dogs United" debuting early next year to help raise awareness for animal rescue and adoption.

"Rescue is a local issue," states Wendy Diamond, Founder and Editorial Director of Animal Fair magazine and creator of Toys for Dogs®. "We want to educate people about the many homeless dogs in their local shelters ready for adoption." Celebrities supporting Toys for Dogs and appearing in the "We are Dogs United" PSA include, Abigail Breslin, Glenn Close, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Richard Belzer, Piper Perabo, Joy Behar, Sheri Sheppard, John O'Hurley, Al Roker, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Jill Zarin and many more.

Wendy and Lucky Diamond were joined by Sundance Board of Directors Member, Steve Haft, Loreen Arbus, Jane Ponterelli, Dr. Babette Gladstein, and Geoffrey Bradfield to toast this amazing PSA campaign that will help local animals everywhere.

Diamond's event comes in a crucial time when an overwhelming number of pet owners are surrendering their animals to shelters because of the economy and the increase in home foreclosures. Shelter animals need our help now more than ever. Animal Fair launched Toys for Dogs®, by putting donation boxes in various shelters and encouraging people to adopt while they donate this holiday season. Animal Fair Media has provided donation boxes at city shelters including Animal Care and Control, as well as the Humane Society of New York. "The economy is not just affecting people but unsuspecting innocent animals as well. Individuals have surrendered their pets because they can no longer provide for them. If we can donate toys to the needy, why not extend that generosity to the dogs that are left alone on Christmas day?" Diamond adds. "There's no better gift than a loving pet!
